Hotan market

Xinjiang is one of the most interesting regions in China, packed with history, ethnic variety, superb landscapes and vibrant Central Asian culture. Like Kashgar, Hotan is also one of the most remote parts of China, sitting at the southern boundary of the Taklamakan Desert along the southern Silk Road. Hotan has a fascinating ethnic mix of Uyghurs, Tajiks, Kyrgyz, Uzbeks and a growing number of Chinese. Hotan’s biggest draw is its traditional weekly market, which rivals Kashgar’s in both size and interest. Exotic bazaars, colourful silks, knives and jewelry vie for your attention.
